5 out of 5 stars

Welcome to The Grand Illusion by FP Schwarz is a book in the other fiction genre. The Grand Illusion is a blog posted by JR Norman that describes two powerful forces that work in the life of every man. THE REAL is all that is good, true and right, and THE FORCE is all that isn’t the real. JR Norman is not a philosopher, a preacher, or a teacher, but he has gone through a lot in his life which enabled him to say that this world is nothing more than a grand illusion. From a bad childhood to finding his true calling, from meeting true friends to the moments of betrayal. All the ups and downs in his life had opened his eyes to see THE REAL and THE FORCE. What exactly happened in JR Norman's life? To know that, you just have to pick up this book and start reading it.

What I like the most of this book was the story. To be honest, I almost felt bored reading the life story of JR because I was too fixated to get to the part about the Grand Illusion blog. But the moment I got to the said part, all that happened in JR’s life made great sense in how it affected the writing of his blog. All the joy and devastation he had experienced makes the explanation of THE REAL and THE FORCE more personal and engaging. The author did a really great job in setting it all up, making all that reading and waiting really worth it.

Unfortunately, the story solely focuses on JR. It was his story, after all. This makes all the other supporting characters nothing more than an addition for the story, and the readers won’t be able to know more about them. Like JR’s friends from high school or the pastor who betrays him. There wasn’t much being told about them aside from how they impacted JR’s life. But I won't say that this makes this book less interesting because JR is the main focus here. Even though I think it would be fun to know more about the people around him, the story is already completed with the way it is told.

Even so, I had nothing to dislike about this book. There are a few errors, but they didn’t reduce the reading experience in any way. So I can say that this book is professionally edited. I gladly rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. This book is really engaging in a way that makes us rethink the way we live and the true meaning behind it all.

I recommend this book to mature young adults and adult readers because the topic of the book could be quite overwhelming for younger readers. Readers who would like to see the world in a different way will also benefit from the blog written by JR Norman. Also, JR is a Christian and talks many times about his faith. A non-believer might not like it that much, but the book is still suitable for people with different beliefs and religions.
